UCL is pleased to announce three exciting summer activities open to Year 12 state school students interested in studying Greek, Latin and Classics.
The Greek and Latin taster course Monday 16 June 2014, 9.45am-4.00pm The Greek and Latin taster course presents Year 12 students with a broad spectrum of topics connected with the civilisations and cultures of the ancient world. They are designed to give students a sense both of the fascination of the subject, and the riches that await should you choose to study it at UCL. This taster course is free to attend. Students will have the opportunity to find out more about Egyptian archaeology, the ancient Near East, Roman poetry, Greek colonisation and much more! The sessions will be led by research students who have a wealth of experience in these fields. This summer schools is free to attend: applications are now open, and the deadline is Friday 16 May. The summer school will delve into one of the main texts of Greek literature, which helped to shape subsequent European literature. Students will have the chance to discuss the Homeric Epics with distinguished classicists, as well as take part in a mosaic workshop!
